The Ducks have up their win strek to five matches and unbeaten streak to eight with a 2-0 win over guest Portland State last night at Pape Field in front of 418 fans. Danielle Sweeney scored Oregon's first goal at the west end in the 38th minute and Rianna Mansfield added the insurance goal in the 65th. The goal was the second of the season for each player. Oregon was ranked 23rd going into tonight's match and is one of five ranked Pac-10 teams with Stanford at number one! The Ducks now head out to Utah to play BYU and Weber State before returning home to open PAC-10 play against number seven California and the top ranked Cardinal on October 9th and 11th respectively. Oregon played well and had several good opportunities but none was enough to defeat the 4th ranked Pilots as the Ducks lost for the 12th consecutive time to Portland 3-0. The 1,279 in attendance was the 4th largest crowd to witness a Ducks match in Eugene. Mike Bellotti also attended which was his first varsity athletic event as the new Athletic Director for Oregon. Goalkeeper Cody Miles recorded 5 saves and Oregon was only outshot by 2 at 14-12. Oregon outshot Portland in the second half 8-6 and also had more corner kicks at 4-2.
