The University of Oregon Women's soccer team played well but could overcome a very good and sixth ranked Portland team losing 1-3 in Portland Saturday night (8-23-08).
A sellout crowd of 4892 at Merlo Field in Portland watched the Ducks cut a 2-0 lead to 2-1, then just 26 seconds later take command again with another goal for the final 3-1 margin!
Jessica Goodell scored for the Ducks with about six minutes left in the match. Jen Stoltenberg was credited with the assist.
The Ducks were only outshot 15-9, and there was only a one shot favor for the Pilots in the second half. Cody Miles saw her first start in goal for the ducks and made three saves!
The Ducks will open their home schedule with a match against Utah State on Friday the 29th of August.
